Mission Statement

The State Quilt Guild of NJ, Inc was incorporated in 1996 as a non-profit educational organization. Our mission is to preserve quilt history and expand quilt knowledge and techniques for both quilters and non-quilters alike through our meetings, workshops, lectures and quilt shows.

History

In 2003 the NJ Quilt Convention became an annual event, featuring the largest non-juried quilt show on the east coast. Every year the Convention will bring nationally recognized teachers and lecturers to the NJ/ NY metropolitan area, offering a wide variety of educational opportunities to all who attend. The profits from the show fund our educational programs including the new "Community Outreach" program. This program is designed to bring quilting to our NJ schools through assembly programs, curriculum additions and interactive design activities.

It is with sad hearts that we place this notice that Melanie Normann, founder of the SQGNJ, has passed away. Please click here for her obituary.

Our Logo

The logo of The State Quilt Guild of New Jersey, Inc. is an oak leaf. The Northern Red Oak is the New Jersey state tree, and many early quilts from New Jersey used oak leaves as a motif.
