Once again, we are fortunate to have Mary Kerr for on-site quilt
appraisals. Mary is a lifelong quilter who has been teaching since 1987. She is
an AQS Certified Appraiser and a member of PAAQT. For many years, Mary has
focused on restoration and repair and now works almost exclusively with vintage
textiles. She is available to appraise both vintage and contemporary quilts.
Why should I have my quilt appraised?
- Written appraisals are necessary for insurance coverage of both antique and contemporary quilted textiles.
- Learn more about your antique textiles – approximate age of your quilt, fabrics used in its construction, and how to care for your quilt.
- Contemporary quilts are evaluated for design and workmanship.
Verbal or written appraisal?
Appraisals can be either written
(30 minutes) or verbal (10 minutes). The cost for written appraisals is $40 per
quilt (payable by cash or check to appraiser when appraisal is performed). An
insurance document with a scanned image of the quilt will be sent within two
weeks of the physical appraisal. Verbal evaluations can be arranged for a fee of
$15 per quilt (also payable to appraiser on-site).
Making Reservations
Reservations should be made in
advance – walk-ins will be accepted if appraisal times are still available.
